Summer always has a different rhythm. Life slows down just enough to spend more time outdoors, gather with family and friends, and enjoy experiences we remember long after the season ends.

This summer, I had the chance to attend one of the FIFA Club World Cup matches in Philly. As it turned out, it became one of the tournament's longest weather delays. Instead of frustration, what I remember most is how people embraced the unexpected. While waiting in the crowded hallways, people found ways to make the best of it, conversations started between strangers, fans chanted and danced, souvenir shopping, eating and drinking, and despite the rain and

uncertainty, the excitement never really disappeared, it was a fun and memorable experience.

Back at Inspired Spaces by D, this season has brought growth of a different kind.

We have continued expanding our commercial design work while helping homeowners and business owners navigate renovations with greater confidence from the very beginning. One trend we have noticed is that more people are reaching out earlier in the planning process, asking questions before construction begins rather than after. Those early conversations often make all the difference.

One comment from a recent client has stayed with me. After completing her first-floor renovation, she simply said, "I felt safe with you and the team you brought in." To me, that's one of the greatest compliments I could receive.

**Why The Best Renovations Usually Start Before They Feel Urgent**

Picture a renovation that came together without a single scramble: materials arrived on schedule, the budget held steady, and the result matched what was imagined from the start. What rarely shows from the outside is that the ease was not a coincidence. It was the result of decisions made weeks, sometimes months, before construction ever began.

One of the biggest misconceptions about renovating is that a project begins on demolition day. In reality, the most impactful work happens earlier in the planning phase, setting the stage for confident decisions, clear budgets, and a smooth, enjoyable process.

Time Creates Better Decisions

Without the pressure of an immediate deadline, there is more room to compare materials, refine layouts, and weigh decisions against the goals of the project.

Well-informed decisions lead to better outcomes, and having the right guidance in place early is often what makes the difference.

Whether updating a single room or an entire commercial space, investing time in the planning stage results in a smoother and more organized experience.

Lead Times Matter More Than Most People Realize

While many products are readily available, custom furnishings, cabinetry, flooring materials, and specialty finishes often require several weeks, or even months, for manufacturing and delivery. Selecting these items early reduces the likelihood of delays once construction is underway and provides greater flexibility when coordinating the project schedule.

A Better Budget Starts With Better Planning

One of the most common questions clients ask is, "How much will my renovation cost?"

The most accurate answer comes only after the design and scope have been clearly defined. Beginning with a well-developed plan allows investment decisions to be based on accurate information rather than assumptions.

Industry Update

One trend we continue to monitor is the constant shift in material availability and pricing across product categories. While every project requires something different, suppliers continue to adjust lead times and pricing more frequently than in previous years.

Looking Ahead

Mid to late summer is often when homeowners and business owners start projects they would like completed by the end of the year. As projects line up, product lead times increase, and installation calendars begin filling, those who start earlier generally have more flexibility, more choices, and fewer last-minute decisions.

And that's really what good planning is about.

Not rushing.

Not guessing.

Simply giving yourself the time to make better decisions.

Commercial Spaces: Children’s Boutique

Interior Design Commercial Renovation in Lansdale, PA: Retail Interior Design

When we first met, Kate was not simply opening a children's resale boutique. She wanted families to walk into a space that felt bright, welcoming, and unlike what most people expect from a resale store. She was deeply committed to creating the best experience for her customers.

Full Project

From the beginning, every decision was centered on the people using the space. It was important to have wide, comfortable aisles to navigate with strollers.

Children needed a safe place to explore while adults browsed, and the store needed to display a large inventory without feeling crowded.

We transformed the concrete floor into a durable epoxy finish that became one of the boutique's memorable features. The brand colors of lavender, sage, black, and white appear throughout the space, while playful terrazzo wallpaper adds personality without competing with the merchandise.

Behind the Process

Through our signature White-Glove Full Project Management service,

Inspired Spaces by D handled every stage of the project from space planning and material selections to procurement, contractor coordi-nation, installation, and final styling. Managing every stage under one process allowed the client to focus on preparing for her grand opening while we coordinated every detail behind the scenes.

One of my favorite features is the indoor garden-inspired play area, created in honor of a beloved family member. Handcrafted trees, hidden birds, and greenery create a playful setting that encourages children to explore, while custom curved shelving and furnishings eliminate sharp corners for added safety.

Projects like this remind me that successful commercial interior design is about far more than beautiful finishes. Every layout, material, and design decision supports the people using the space while strengthening the client's brand.

The Result

Today, Love Me Once Twice in Lansdale, PA is more than a thriving children's resale boutique. It is a memorable destination where every design decision balances aesthetics, safety, and functionality, so parents can shop comfortably while children explore safely. It reflects the owner's commitment to creating an exceptional experience people want to return to.
